Could you tell us what you do and your journey in your career field?
I’m 43 years old, a Retail Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Arval Belgium since 2021 I have been working for the BNP Paribas Group for 23 years now.
Previously I was Head of Sales Management – Lending Individuals for 3 years and before that in several Management positions for 10 Years. Both are within BNPP Fortis.
Has the industry changed since you started in terms of inclusion in the workplace? If so, how?
I definitely think so. The inauguration of the Multicultural Banking Network, with the strong support of Febelfin, is an example amongst others.
What was the turning point of your career?/ When did you realise that everything was finally making sense?
I think the turning point of my career was when I decided to believe that promoting diversity within our company was not just words and I was lucky enough to experience this very early.
Can you explain to us how you see the importance of multicultural inclusion and why you wanted to join the MCBN?
Our main objective as a company is to serve our clients. Who else could do it better than employees being a real representative sample of the population?
I wanted to join the MCBN just to support my way (both our company and employees).
Is there a message you would give to your younger self?/ What is a piece of advice you would give to younger people who want to be in your position?
Don’t know if people would like to be in my position😊. Just be yourself, don’t apologise for who you are and work hard to reach what you want.
What are some questions you could ask your older self?
Did I give as much as I was given?
In what way can we as members of the MCBN contribute to a positive change in the way the finance sector is perceived?
By contributing to help our Industry (companies and people) to continue to embrace the diversity and inclusion challenges we’re still facing.
Is there a quote/an emblem/ a trinket that motivates you/was the driving force of your career?
The sky is the limit!
